Trailer for Lone Survivor (2013)
Lone Survivor (2013) (Click on the title for my full review.)
The film is directed by Peter Berg. The noteworthy cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Ben Foster, Eric Bana, Emile Hirsch, Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Ludwig, Jerry Ferrera, and Scott Elrod.
This cast in a film based on a true story about a NAVY SEAL operation gone bad. What else is there for me to say? I’ll see it.
The film is set to release on 12/27/13.
Trailer for American Hustle (2013)
American Hustle (2013) (Click on the title for my full review.)
David O. Russell has taken 3 stars from his film Silver Linings Playbook (2012) and 2 stars from his film The Fighter (2010), and brought all 5 of them together to make American Hustle (2013). If The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook had a baby, it would be named American Hustle.
Not only is this film a guaranteed Oscar contender, but it will most likely be amazing.
The noteworthy cast includes Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Michael Pena, Jack Huston, Louis C.K., and Alessandro Nivola.
This film is a definite must-see.
It is set to release this Christmas, 12/25/13.
Trailer for 47 Ronin (2013)
47 Ronin (2013)
I finally had a chance to post this trailer. I heard about this movie months ago and I have been excited to see the trailer. Why have I been excited? Because I had heard rumors that Keanu Reeves was going to play a samurai.
The rumors are correct and I’m not quite sure what to think about this movie. I think it will either be hit or miss. Reeves could be an excellent samurai, however it appears like the film may be a little too far out.
Reeves plays an outcast who was enslaved and sold. His owners mistreat him and he is forced to fight. The enemies of his owners help him to break the bond of slavery and give him a chance for revenge.
The film is directed by Carl Rinsch and the rest of the noteworthy cast includes Rinko Kikuchi, Hiroyuki Sanada, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Tadanobu Asano, Yorick van Wageningen, Togo Igawa, and Haruka Abe.
Reeves has not really been in a big movie since 2008. This film appears like it has potential. I’m a fan of Keanu and him playing a samurai is enough to make me want to see it.
The film is set to release this Christmas, 12/25/13.
Trailer for Red 2 (2013)
Red 2 (2013) (Click on the title for my full review.)
Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) is a retired CIA agent who cannot seem to stay retired from mayhem. In this sequel to Red (2010), Moses bands together with a group of friends who also happen to be misfit murderers, in order to try to track down a missing nuke.
The film is directed by Dean Parisot and the rest of the notable cast includes John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Neal McDonough, and Byung-hun Lee.
If Red 2 is half as good as Red, it will be worth seeing. It should be full of laughs and plenty of good action.
The film is set to release on 7/19/13.
Trailer for Out of the Furnace (2013)
Out of the Furnace (2013) (Click on the title for my full review.)
A Man (Christian Bale) goes looking for his younger brother (Casey Affleck) after he goes missing. He will stop at nothing to get his brother back and release his own form of justice on whoever is responsible for taking him.
The film is directed by Scott Cooper. Who is Scott Cooper? I had to look him up too. The only other movie that Cooper directed is Crazy Heart (2009). Jeff Bridges won an Academy Award for Best Actor for Crazy Heart. Cooper has received a lot of critical acclaim for that film. It appears like Cooper just might have another Oscar contender on his hands with this new film Out of the Furnace.
The rest of the noteworthy cast includes Woody Harrelson, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard, Dendrie Taylor, and Tom Bower.
If you get a group of actors like that together to make a movie, it’s hard to expect anything less than excellence.
The film is set to release on 12/06/13.
I’ll be in the theatre in December to let you know if this film meets my expectations.
Redband Trailer for Oldboy (2013)
Oldboy (2013)
This preview is approved for appropriate audiences.
10 years after the Korean film Oldboy (2003), Spike Lee decided to direct an American version. The original film was quite twisted and the remake appears like it will follow suit.
Oldboy (2013) is about a man (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and imprisoned for 20 years. When he is finally released, he sets out for revenge on his unknown captor. Why was he kidnapped and held for so long? Who did it and why did they let him go?
The rest of the notable cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Michael Imperioli, Lance Reddick, Sharlto Copley, Max Casella, Rami Malek, James Ransone, and Grey Damon.
Brolin continues to choose his roles carefully. If he pulls off his part, as it appears like he definitely will, this remake should be intensely awesome.
I am totally looking forward to this one!
The film is set to release on 11/29/13.
Trailer for The Family (2013)
The Family (2013)
Robert De Niro returns to his mafia roots in this film where he plays a former mob boss who enters witness protection to protect himself and his family from getting whacked. Now they all must try to adapt to leading normal, average lives and this proves to be difficult.
Michelle Pfeiffer plays De Niro’s wife and Tommy Lee Jones is the man who put the family in witness protection. The rest of the notable cast includes Dominic Chianese, Vincent Pastore, Dianna Agron, Joseph Perrino, and John D’leo.
The film is directed by Luc Besson and produced by Martin Scorsese.
The movie looks like an entertaining dysfunctional drama that could also be good for a few laughs. It has a great cast and some of the best filmmakers in the business are a part of it. That’s good enough for me to want to see.
The film is set to release on 9/13/13.
Trailer for Escape Plan (2013)
Escape Plan (2013) (click on the title for my full review.)
Grandpa Stallone and Grandpa Schwarzenegger are both at it again. This time Sylvester plays a prison escape artist. After finding a way to break out of a number of prisons, he designed a new prison where escaping is near impossible. Of course, eventually he finds himself framed and locked up in the very prison that he created. Arnold is on the inside with him. Now Stallone must breakout in order to track down the party responsible for getting him locked up.
The film is directed by Mikael Hafstrom and the cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Caviezel, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, Sam Neill, 50 Cent (lol), and Amy Ryan.
The movie reminds me a bit of Face/Off (1997) simply because in that film John Travolta‘s character (with Nicolas Cage‘s face) agrees to go under cover and be locked up in a high-tech prison. Eventually the only people that know he is undercover find themselves dead and he is forced to try to escape if he wants to get back to his real life.
How does 50 Cent keep getting parts in movies?
Although Stallone and Schwarzenegger are both maybe a little too ancient to be making this type of movie, I think that somehow they will pull it off. Either way, I will be there to give you my take on it.
The film is set to release on 10/18/13.
Trailer for Paranoia (2013)
Paranoia (2013)
A young man (Liam Hemsworth) gets caught up spying on one major corporation for another major corporation. Eventually the young man gets in way over his head in the midst of the war between the men in charge of each company (Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford). The rest of the notable cast includes Richard Dreyfuss, Amber Heard, Josh Holloway, Lucas Till, Julian McMahon, Angela Sarafyan, and Kevin Kilner. From the director of 21 (2008), Robert Luketic. A corporate espionage thriller with Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford, and Richard Dreyfuss, enough said. The movie is set to release on 8/16/13.
