Happy Birthday to Nicolas Cage
Happy Birthday to Nicolas Cage!
The famous actor turns 50 years old today.
Although he and his career have basically imploded and taken a nosedive in the last 7 years, Nicolas Cage is still one of my favorite actors of all time.
Unfortunately he has disgraced us all with the absurdity and awfulness of The Wicker Man (2006), Ghost Rider (2007), The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010), Season of the Witch (2011), Drive Angry (2011), Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011), and The Frozen Ground (2013).
However, let us not forget the jewels that he has bestowed upon us with:
Lord of War (2005),
The Weather Man (2005),
National Treasure (2004),
Matchstick Men (2003),
The Family Man (2000),
Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000),
Bringing Out the Dead (1999),
Face/Off (1997),
Con Air (1997),
The Rock (1996),
Leaving Las Vegas (1995),
Kiss of Death (1995),
and Raising Arizona (1987).
The man can still act. Every once in a while he gets his act together and creates something that is reminiscent of the Nicolas Cage of old. I still watch his films with a shimmer of hope because one day he could turn it all around and return to greatness. One day he just might make his comeback. He is not getting any younger, but 50 years old is something to celebrate. Happy Birthday Nic and thank you for the excellent movie watching experiences!

Happy Birthday to Alfred Hitchcock
Happy Birthday to Alfred Hitchcock! The master of suspense would have turned 114 years old today.
He is easily considered one of the best film directors to ever live. Arguably Hitchcock impacted the movie industry more than any other director. His methods forever changed movies.
His 4 most famous films are Psycho (1960), Rear Window (1954), Vertigo (1958) and North By Northwest (1959).
Happy Birthday to Mary-Louise Parker
Happy Birthday to Mary-Louise Parker! The talented actress turns 49 years old today.
Parker has become more popular on the big screen in recent years thanks mostly to Red (2010). She currently has 2 films out in theatres: Red 2 (2013), and R.I.P.D. (2013).
Happy Birthday to Arnold Schwarzenegger
Happy Birthday to Arnold Schwarzenegger!
The man has been known as Mr. Universe and The Governor of California, but he will always be remembered as The Terminator.
Ahnuld turns 66 years old today.
Check out the trailer for his latest movie that also stars Sylvester Stallone, Escape Plan (2013).
The duo will also return for another go-round in the movie The Expendables 3 (2014).
Earlier this year Ahnuld was in The Last Stand (2013).
Check out Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Impression of Jeff Dunham’s Walter Doll.
He will be back in Terminator 5 (2015).

Happy Birthday to Ray Allen
Happy Birthday to Ray Allen! The greatest 3-point shooter to ever live turns 38 years old today.
Allen acted opposite Denzel Washington in the movie He Got Game (1998). Apparently he was also in Harvard Man (2001), which I have not seen.
Ray is an okay actor, but an amazing basketball player. Most recently he can be credited for winning the 2013 NBA Finals for the Miami Heat. The San Antonio Spurs had the Heat backed into a corner. Lebron James couldn’t finish, so it took a real superstar (Ray Allen) to knock down a 3-pointer at the buzzer in game 6, that ultimately won the Championship. It was a dagger through the heart of the Spurs and Allen did the stabbing. If it weren’t for Ray, the Heat would have lost.
Ray Allen has probably the purest shot that I have ever seen. I will never forget the 2008 NBA Finals when he helped the Boston Celtics claim victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
It was tough to see him leave the Celtics and go over to the darkside. In my mind he will always be a Celtic. He definitely Got Game!

Happy Birthday to Harrison Ford
Happy Birthday to Harrison Ford! The actor most famously known for his part as Hon Solo in the original Star Wars Trilogy turns 71 years old today.
Ford can credit his popularity and huge movie career to George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, the men responsible for making him famous. Lucas wrote and directed all of the Star Wars films. Spielberg directed and Lucas wrote all of the Indiana Jones films (the other movies that ford is most known for).
After Lucas and Spielberg made Harrison Ford a household name, he went on to have a very successful career.
Ford has 3 major films releasing later this year: Ender’s Game (2013), Anchorman: The Legend Continues (2013), and Paranoia (2013).
Happy Birthday to Kevin Bacon
Happy Birthday to Kevin Bacon! He celebrates his 55th year in this world today.
When I think of Kevin Bacon, the first thing that comes to mind is the game “6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon.” This guy has acted alongside so many of the greats in so many excellent films that they named a game after him.
So how do you play “6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” you ask? Well, great question, thanks for asking. The object of the game is to link any given actor to Kevin Bacon in 6 steps or less. The less steps the better. For example I’ll use Angelica Huston as the other actor because she shares birthdays with Kevin Bacon, except today she turns 62. Now let’s try to link Huston with Bacon in the least amount of steps. Huston was in The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) with Bill Murray, that’s the first step; Murray was in Wild Things (1998) with Bacon, and that’s the second and last step. There you go. I successfully linked Angelica Huston to Kevin Bacon in 2 steps. Obviously the only thing better than 2 steps is 1 step. The only way that you could link the two actors together in 1 step is to find a movie that they were both in together. That example was pretty easy. Sometimes the game can get pretty intricate and difficult.
I used to play a variation of “6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon.” The version that I would play was to link any 2 random actors together, rather than always Kevin Bacon and 1 other.
Not everyone can play those games. You almost have to have a real movie obsession to be any good at them.
You know than an actor is pretty awesome when they name a game like that after him.

Happy Birthday to Shelley Duvall
Happy Birthday to Shelley Duvall! The actress turns 64 years old today.
Happy Birthday Mrs. Torrance!
Remember that kooky, creepy lady who played Jack Nicholson’s wife in The Shining (1980)? Yeah, that’s her.
That is about the only movie that I liked her in. But, you have to admit, she helped make The Shining as horrific as it is.
Happy Birthday to Sylvester Stallone
Happy Birthday to Sylvester Stallone! The Italian Stallion turns 67 years old today.
When I think of Sylvester Stallone, I think of his characters Rocky Balboa and John Rambo. Balboa is from his 5 Rocky films, beginning with Rocky (1976) and Rambo is from his 4 Rambo movies, beginning with First Blood (1982).
In more recent years, Stallone has gathered together his fellow aging action heroes. They have all banded together to form The Expendables trilogy. The Expendables (2010) started it all. The Expendables 3 is planned to release in the summer of 2014.

It appears as if old age is not going to slow down Sylvester. He is 67 and he continues to make action films. This October he will be trying to break out of prison with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Escape Plan (2013). This Christmas Stallone will be boxing Robert De Niro in the film Grudge Match (2013). The Italian Stallion vs. The Raging Bull. That promises to be a Christmas present worth waiting for. My money is on Rocky.
