Happy Birthday to Eva Green
Happy Birthday to Eva Green!
Green was a Bond girl at the age of 26 opposite Daniel Craig in Casino Royale (2006). As it turned out, it was that film that helped her make a name for herself.
6 years later she became a witch who condemned Johnny Depp to be a vampire in her 10th film, the dark comedy Dark Shadows (2012).
Eva has proven her ability as an actress. She will appear in 2 major sequels on the horizon, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) and 300: Rise of an Empire (2014).
Today Eva Green turns 33 years old.
It seems as if she has a very promising career ahead of her. I’m looking forward to seeing what she does next.
Happy Birthday to Eva Marie Saint
Happy Birthday to Eva Marie Saint! The famous actress turns 89 years old today.
She is most known for playing the leading lady opposite Cary Grant in Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece, North By Northwest (1959). In real life, Grant is 20 years her senior.
I find this picture fitting considering it’s the 4th of July.
Eva Marie Saint has been making movies and television shows for the last 66 years.
Cheers to you Eva!
Happy Birthday to Tom Cruise
Happy Birthday to Tom Cruise! The outstanding actor turns 51 years old today.
Cruise is one of the greatest actors of our time. Some don’t like him because of his views. I try not to judge. His films speak for themselves. The guy can act.
13 Best Tom Cruise Movies (in no particular order):
The Last Samurai (2003)
Collateral (2004)
Valkyrie (2008)
Vanilla Sky (2001)
Days of Thunder (1990)
The Color of Money (1986)
Top Gun (1986)
Minority Report (2002)
Rain Man (1988)
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Mission: Impossible (1996), Mission: Impossible III (2006), and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)
There are plenty of other Cruise films that could have been on this list, but these are just my favorites.
Happy Birthday to Larry David
Happy Birthday to Larry David!
The comedy genius behind Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm turns 66 years old today.
Larry has a new television show coming out later this summer called Clear History.
He is known mainly for his television shows, but has acted in a few movies; most notably The Three Stooges (2012) and Whatever Works (2009).
Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm are 2 of my favorite TV comedies of all time. They are both shows that I can watch over and over again. Pure comedy!
Happy Birthday to Alan Ruck
Happy Birthday to Alan Ruck! The actor turns 57 today.
Ruck never really made it huge as an actor like his costar in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986), Matthew Broderick did. But, to me, Alan Ruck will always be remembered as Cameron Frye, Ferris Bueller’s best friend. He was always sick and his dad owned a Ferrari.
Happy Birthday to Meryl Streep
Happy Birthday to Meryl Streep! The actress turns 64 today.
Many consider Streep to be one of the greatest actresses of all time. She is not my favorite actress by any means, but I have enjoyed many of her films.
My favorite Meryl Streep films are Marvin’s Room (1996), Before and After (1996), and The Manchurian Candidate (2004).
Streep has been nominated for an Academy Award 17 times and she has won 3 times. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress for Sophie’s Choice (1982) and also for The Iron Lady (2011). She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). She has been nominated for an Academy Award more times than any other actor.
Happy Birthday to Clint Eastwood
Happy Birthday to Clint Eastwood! The legendary actor/director/producer turns 83 years old today.
Not only is Eastwood one of the greatest actors of all time, but he is also one of the best directors out there. Not including television shows or documentaries, Clint has acted in 60 films, produced 30 films, and directed 32 films. He has also been involved in composing music for 7 films. Eastwood has shown us that he can pretty much do it all when it comes to moviemaking.
I have seen the majority of Eastwood’s films. He has made so many great movies that my list of favorites goes on and on.
My favorite film that Clint Eastwood produced and directed but did not star in is Mystic River (2003).
Besides “The Man with No Name” Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)), my favorite Eastwood western is High Plains Drifter (1973).
I’m not going to list them all, because as I said, the list goes on and on. Some of my other favorite Eastwood movies are In the Line of Fire (1993), Million Dollar Baby (2004), Gran Torino (2008), and Blood Work (2002).
Just writing about these Clint Eastwood movies makes me want to have an Eastwood movie marathon. I might just have to do that one of these days. That would be a marathon of awesomeness.
Thank you for a lifetime of phenomenal films Clint!
Go ahead, make my birthday!
Happy Birthday to John C. Reilly
Happy Birthday to John C. Reilly! The goofball actor turns 48 years old today.
The first movies that I remember liking Reilly in were What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? (1993) and Days of Thunder (1990).
Days of Thunder was the first PG-13 movie that I remember seeing. I was 4 years old and I remember my Mom and Dad bringing my siblings and I to the theatre to see that movie. It is the first movie that I remember hearing cussing in. It’s very strange to me because I remember watching that movie in the theatre like it was yesterday. That was already 23 years ago. I remember my parents trying to cover my ears after hearing “son of a…”
John C. Reilly started his career with more serious roles, but in more recent years he has become known for his crazy humor in such films as Anger Management (2003), Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), Step Brothers (2008), and The Dictator (2012). Later this year, he will be joining Will Ferrell in Anchorman: The Legend Continues (2013).
Happy Birthday to James Stewart
Happy Birthday to James Stewart! Mr. Stewart would be 105 years old today.
The amazing actor was great in Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window (1954) and Vertigo (1958). But, he will forever go down in history as George Bailey in Frank Capra‘s It’s a Wonderful Life (1946). He is a true film legend.
“You sit around here and you spin your little webs and you think the whole world revolves around you and your money. Well, it doesn’t, Mr. Potter. In the whole vast configuration of things, I’d say you were nothing but a scurvy little spider! And…And that goes for you, too!” -George Bailey
Happy Birthday to Pierce Brosnan
Happy Birthday to Pierce Brosnan! The actor formerly known as James Bond will be celebrating a major milestone today, he turns 60 years old.
Of course Brosnan is most known for his suave portrayal of the iconic Bond character. He did walk in those shoes 4 times: Goldeneye (1995) (my favorite Pierce Brosnan Bond), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).
He is almost exactly 7 months older than my father and I remember my dad taking me to see all four of his James Bond movies in the theatre over the years. At the time I always thought it was pretty cool to think that James Bond was the same age as my dad.
I remember hating Pierce Brosnan’s character in Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) because he played his part so well. After seeing him as Bond, I thought Pierce was pretty awesome. After re-watching Mrs. Doubtfire, I liked him even more.
Brosnan was a superstar for a while in the 90’s and early 2000’s, but then his career began to fade.
The Matador (2005) was a sort of comeback movie for him. In it he plays an aging hit man who is beginning to lose his edge. It’s a dark comedy that also featured Greg Kinnear. The role seemed so out of character for Pierce, but his performance was priceless. The movie could have been better, but his part was great.
He has continued making many movies, but the only one worth mentioning in more recent years is The Greatest (2009).
Somewhere along the way he lost his status and has not been able to be a part of big films. Of course, I guess that is what comes with age. I’m still a fan though. Cheers to you Mr. Bond!
