There is something about movies that are based on true stories. Knowing that what happened in the movie might be similar to how it actually happened in real life makes the movie that much more interesting. I especially enjoy watching a movie based on true events that I already am familiar with. It’s interesting to see the director or the writer’s take on what they think happened. Sometimes a movie is supposedly based on real life, but it may be way different from what actually happened in real life. If you are a fan of these types of movies, then you will probably enjoy the films on this list.

I am not the biggest fan of this genre because too often romantic comedies are very cheesy and predictable. However, if they are well-made then they can be just as good as any other comedy. This is a list of good “date movies” because both the man and woman can enjoy these romantic comedies without the man just having to suffer through them.

Redbox changes its movie selection periodically. Out with the old and in with the new. I do not claim to have seen all of the movies that are currently available at the Redbox. However, I have seen 90 of them. Of those 90 films, I have written a review for 35 of them. My reviews will let you know what I think are the best movies currently available at the Redbox and what are the worst movies currently available at the Redbox.

I have updated the list based on all the movies that are currently available to rent at the Redbox as of 5/9/13. They will change some of the titles weekly, but the list should still be pretty accurate for a while and hopefully be able to help you find a good movie to rent. I have included the DVD covers and previews. If a movie doesn’t have a cover or preview above it, simply click on the title for my full review of the movie along with the poster artwork and preview.
I do not claim to have seen all of the movies that are currently available at the Redbox, but I have seen 82 of them. Of those 82 movies, here is the list of my top 13 Current Redbox movies:
2. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) My Rating: 9
3. Ted (2012)
4. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
6. The Dark Knight Rises (2012) My Rating: 9
11. Looper (2012) My Rating: 8.5
12. Titanic (1997) My Rating: 8.5
These movies in my opinion, are the best movies that are currently available at the Redbox.
Newcomers Silver Linings Playbook, The Impossible, and Jack Reacher have knocked Flight (2012), Sinister (2012), and Lincoln (2012) off of the list. The other movies continue to hold strong.

These movies in my opinion, are the best movies that are currently available at the Redbox.
Django Unchained has taken over the number 1 spot. Both The Machinist (2004) and The Raid: Redemption (2011) are no longer available to rent at the Redbox and therefore they have vanished from the list. Newcomers Hitchcock and Lincoln have knocked Moneyball (2011) out of the park and off of the list. The other movies continue to hold strong.
